The Izwe scholarship fund provides opportunity for Senior High School (SHS) graduates who have excellent grades but are truly financially needy, to pursue undergraduate or equivalent tertiary programs of their choice for the 2022/2023 academic year, at any public tertiary institution in Ghana. The scholarship is intended to develop capacities and knowledge of young people to empower them drive change and contribute to the development of Ghana.
BENEFITS
The Scholarship Fund is offered for the maximum period necessary for the individual to complete an academic programme specified by their chosen educational institution.
The Scholarship provides for the following benefits:
- Academic User fee
- Approved course textbooks
ELIGIBILITY
For an applicant to be eligible for the Scholarship, they must;
- Be a Ghanaian SHS graduate in dire need of financial support for their education.
- Have a Senior High School certificate with a maximum grade of aggregate 10.
- Gained admission to any of the public tertiary universities
- Not be older than 22 years of age
HOW TO APPLY
- Completed application form
- In 500 words, applicant must state why they must be a beneficiary
- Evidence of eligibility above.
APPLICATION PROCESS
- The fund will be advertised on radio, social media and in newspapers for persons interested to make enquiries and apply for the scholarship by sending an email to izwescholarship fund@izweghana.com.
- Applicants will be required to fill a form on the company’s website to apply. The application form will also be made available at the branches for those who do not have access to the internet. The form will have a check-box of all the documents required for a successful application process. Application forms and all supporting documents must be emailed by the applicant to izwescholarshipfund@izweghana.com or handed over to the branch manager in a sealed envelope.
- Application forms that will be submitted partially filled, will be withdrawn and not be processed administratively.
- All applications sent through after the stipulated deadline will not be considered for review.
Supporting records to be uploaded or attached to the application form
- Results slip
- Birth certificate
- Any national ID of student
- Brief write up on ‘Why you should be selected to be on this scholarship scheme’ (not more than 500 words)
PROCESS OF SELECTION
Selecting of qualified applicants will require the process outlined below;
- Publication: Open application for potential beneficiaries to submit their completed application form.
- Screening of all received applications to make sure they meet the requirement and narrow the number down to 50 by Izwe.
- A further review will be undertaken by the internal committee members to shortlist received applications from 50 to 30.
- The shortlisted 30 applicants will be reduced further to 15 via a virtual meeting of the committee members.
- The shortlisted 15 will be invited to an in-person interview where all committee members will be physically present.
- Finally, 10 applicants will be shortlisted as beneficiaries after the interview.
AWARD LETTER
All successful applicants will be asked to stay behind after the interview to review the terms of the scholarship and sign to a letter of acceptance.
DISBURSEMENT OF SCHOLARSHIP FUND
- Scholarship funds will be disbursed upon receipt of acceptance letter.
- Receipts must be provided after payments are made to guarantee release of funds for next academic year.
- Funds will be paid directly to the institution the beneficiary has enrolled.
- Funds must only be used for educational expenses that have been qualified in the policy. By no means should scholarship funds be diverted to other expenses unrelated to its purpose.
REVOCATION OF SCHOLARSHIP
- Scholarship will be revoked if;
- the beneficiary does not perform well
- funds are being diverted for other things other than fees and textbooks or learning materials
- Upon realization that fake documents were submitted for review.
- Scholarship awarded is not transferable.
RECORD KEEPING
- Izwe will keep all records and documents provided by applicants during the application process.
- A record of all transcripts must be submitted at the end of every semester
